BORNOVA EVKA 3 SOCIAL CENTER AND TRANSPORTATION HUB
IDEAS ABOUT THE SITE AND THE PROGRAM
We identified 3 major problems in terms of project site and subject.
These are,
- the requirements of the program being anatomically too different from each other,
- the closeness of the project site to the metro station
- individual elements and other inconsistencies in the project site.
The most fundamental problem determining how we would approach the site and the program of the project was without a doubt the necessity of designing a really large vehicle-based program (the transfer station) and a similar size pedestrian-based program (social center) that would merge together and exist inspite of each other at the same time.
It should not be forgotten that one of the primary functions of this area is to reach the buses, although the reflex is to submerge the transfer station that occupies such a large space under the ground and use the surface to spread the program and create multiple public spaces. Therefore, instead of an imaginary architectural reflex, the first goal should be taking this issue realistically and transferring 15,000 people on a daily basis easily, quickly and directly to the transfer station.
